What We Offer Our Trainees

Our Trainees can expect an enjoyable learning experience, encountering true General Practice. Trainees are made to feel part of our team in a well supported environment. We have a good reputation with Trainees, so much so, that quite a few of our FY2s have come back to us as ST3s.

We offer our Trainees an in depth induction programme, which includes spending time with each Partner consulting, and designated IT tutorials. There is also the opportunity to spend time with our primary care team, if the Trainee wishes. We provide our Trainees with equipment and a bag. Once the Trainee feels confident enough, they will start seeing patients alone, but will always have a designated Partner for each surgery, who is approachable for any queries or advice. As confidence grows, our Trainees usually start doing home visits, which is often quite an enjoyable experience. Only later in their Training, when the Trainee feels ready, we will look at involving them in our on call rota. This will never be more than once a week, and they will always have a GP to contact for help or advice.

Our Trainee will have protected learning time for tutorials each week, and also lots of opportunity to film and analyse consultations. We also hold fortnightly clinical meetings as a Practice, discussing hot topics and reviewing our clinical practice. All of the above allows our trainee a great learning opportunity, helping towards CSA and AKT, as well as qualifying as a confident, independent GP! To date, all our trainees have passed their exams first time........
